Bad Ragaz is a well-known holiday resort with a thermal bath and a high quality medical centre, a public outdoor swimming-pool, a casino, 2 golf courses, tennis courts, a park and a little lake. It is situated in the Rhine valley (flat) surrounded by beautiful mountains.
In Bad Ragaz there are lots of beautiful walking and cycling paths along the river, in the forest, in our two parks, along the border of our lake Giessen, in the vineyards or to our impressive gorge.
Especially hiking in the mountains (magnificent view over the Alps) can be recommended. In our region (Heidiland) there are several cable-cars which transport you quickly to different vantage points or summits. Cycling in the valley is also very popular.
Bad Ragaz also has a wonderful outdoor sculpture exhibition which shouldn't be missed.
Why not visiting some of the historic towns in our region like Chur (15min), Sargans (10min), Maienfeld (5min), Werdenberg (20min), Altstätten (35min), and Rapperswil (35min)?
In Sargans (7km), you can visit a mine, a very interesting castle with a museum of the region, an in- and outdoor climbing wall and a very nice playground for children.
Pfäfers (4km), very beautifully situated above Bad Ragaz, is worth a visit because of its nice monastery church and the viewpoint Tabor.
Walenstadt (15 min) attracts with a big lake, a wonderful panorama and a sand beach (swimming, boating, sailing, surfing, playground for children).
Then, don’t forget to explore our small national park Chapfensee (20min) with protected plants and a beautiful lake!
Maybe you are interested in our two dams and their storage-lakes (15/35min). Very recommendable is also the summer sledge-run in Flumserberge or Churwalden (25 min) or the water pleasure park Alpamare with its several warm pools in- and out-door (current canal, bob sledge, waves, whirlpool, steam-bath, sauna and much more) in Pfäffikon (35min).
If you like adventure holidays, try rappelling down or abseiling, canyoning, climbing, hang gliding (also passenger flights are possible), toboggan or scooter fun or the high wire garden in our region.
It takes us 1 hour to travel to Zürich (100km), 15 min to Chur (the oldest city of Switzerland), 15 min to Vaduz (capital of the Principality of Liechtenstein), 30 min to Feldkirch (historic city in Austria), 70 min to Lindau (poular city in Germany) and 80 min to Lucerne, two hours to Berne (capital of Switzerland) and 1.5 hours to Bellinzona (Italian part of Switzerland). These cities offer a variety of touristic attractions and cultural events.
