1 story house in beautiful Rio Grande Valley just south of Albuquerque New Mexico

Our home is an spacious older two bedroom, two bath, home on fenced 3/4 of an acre, with a large patio. We are in the Mid Valley Airpark, which is a private airport for small planes. About three-quarters of the families in the park have a plane and fly frequently. Planes can land less than a block from our home and then are taxied to the front door! Our home has large, comfortable rooms. We have all the usual amenities, wi fi, cable TV, washer/dryer, dishwasher. A safe subdivision. We are three miles south of Los Lunas, about a block from the Rio Grande River. Los Lunas is a village large enough to have a Walmart, good shopping and good restaurants. The Railrunner to Santa Fe stops three miles from our home. We are about forty minutes from the Albuquerque International Airport, an hour from Santa Fe, three hours up mountain on four-lane highways to Roswell. Indian reservations are to the north and to the west. Rocky Mountains are all around us. We are a good base for the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta two full weeks in October each year. Our car is a 2014 mini SUV Mazda, five passengers..

About Our Family

We have six children, all out on their own and three living in our area. One child lives in the adjacent apartment. That child is happy to help our exchange partners, if needed. We have exchanged six times very successfully, and enjoy doing so very much.

Lifestyle

We are an older couple, quiet, readers. Our home, though, is in a good area for those who are active physically, curious about other cultures, and like unusual areas to explore. The pueblos and Navajo Reservations are very interesting and accessible. The mountains are beautiful. Santa Fe and Albuquerque are close; Roswell (alien capital of the world), three hours away; Arizona and the Grand Canyon a day's trip to the west.

Weatherwise, in winter, our area is moderate with occasional snow. Winter usually means a warm coat, but not a hat, gloves or boots unless you are heading for the higher elevations (10,000 - 12,000 feet) to go touring or skiing. Albuquerque is twenty miles, Santa Fe one hour, Roswell two hundred miles (down mountain to 3,500 feet) on a four lane, quiet road. New Mexico is a huge state, about five times the size of Ireland (the only one I know of offhand.) But the population is low, just over two million in the whole state. Population is centered in the Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Las Cruces areas. It is a beautiful state, desert and mountains, and usually lovely in the winter. Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Taos, the Indian reservations are all within easy driving distance.
