House in Berkeley, USA

We are 4 km to downtown Berkeley and 20km to downtown San Francisco.  You can walk 20 minutes downhill  (a reminder that what goes down, must go up) or a 5 minute drive where you can shop or take a BART train (underground) to San Francisco (20 minute ride) or visit the University of California, Berkeley.   We are close to the Berkeley Gourmet Ghetto for world-class restaurants such as "Chez Panisse" (http://www.chezpanisse.com/intro.php) or cross the road and visit "The Cheese Board" (http://cheeseboardcollective.coop/) and take home some fabulous cheeses. Fresh fruits, vegetable and designer breads abound in street markets representing small, independent, farmers. Visit " Berkeley Bowl" (http://www.berkeleybowl.com) for fruits, vegetables, groceries, fresh fish and meats or "Monterey Market" (http://www.montereymarket.com/) for more produce by local farmers . Berkeley, among other things is about food, food, food. Also, take a moment to see some of the local architectural designs of Julia Morgan and Bernard Maybeck.
Our house has 3 bedrooms on 2 1/2 floors.  The main floor is an open space dining room and kitchen.  In addition, on this primary level is the large master bedroom, master bathroom with tub and shower and 1 smaller bedroom with twin size trundle bed that opens to sleep 2.  This room is also our computer workspace.
One half level down is our family living room.  The large west facing picture window glows with summer sunsets.  Down one flight of stairs beyond the living room is bedroom #3.  This room sleeps 2 and has an ensuite bathroom with shower and a separate entrance.
The house faces West for wonderful evening sunsets or it is possible to be embraced  in a cloud of coastal fog as it creeps from the Pacific Ocean, through the Golden Gate Bridge, over San Francisco Bay, to the Berkeley HIlls.
Visiting Northern California allows you access to the Pacific Ocean and it's coastal towns such as Mendocino to the north, or view the famous California Redwoods.  If you drive south from Berkeley you can visit Monterey and the Sea Aquarium or drive a few minutes farther south and you are on the Big Sur coastline.  A few hours inland and you are in the Sierra Mountains.  Visit Yosemite National Park and the small towns of the Gold Rush era or north to Lake Tahoe for Casino fun and the wonders of the lake.  If you want to taste California wines, our home is 1 to 1-1/2hours to any of the wine valleys.  If you are interested in a longer driving trip, travel 5 hours to Ashland, Oregon and take part in the Shakespeare Festival.  Tickets are required in advance.
There is much to do and see or just relax and enjoy our home and city.
