2 story house near Pahoa, USA
My home is near Kehena Beach on the Puna coast of Hawaii. Walk to the black sand beach is less than one mile. This is a rural setting and a lava coastline. (Not the way tourist brochures for Hawaii usually look. Long sandy beaches are on the other side of the island.) This rural location is 20 minutes from Pahoa, close (but not too close!) to the active Kilauea volcano flow. There's both sun and rain nearly daily in this gorgeous rainforest setting.
The house is unique, with large sliding glass windows and no screens, except in the bedroom. Beautiful ocean views from upstairs. Downstairs is a small, one bedroom studio apartment with one queen size bed. If we are home and you do a non-simultaneous exchange, this is the space I have to offer. There's a separate entrance, lanai, bathroom with outdoor shower and kitchenette. Washer, dryer, and internet are available to both upstairs and downstairs guests.

The Puna coast is rainforest with lava coastline. A black sand beach is less than a mile from the house. Some of the newest land and beaches, created by a lava flow in 2018 are also nearby. Kilauea volcano is a few miles in the other direction. Beautiful natural surroundings abound!

I am a writer and my partner is an education consultant. My son is 32 and my grandson is 11. We sometimes travel together, but usually, it's just me and my partner. We can work from almost anywhere, so sometimes, a long term exchange is possible, as long as there's good wifi at your place.

I have been doing home exchanges since before the internet! We've had many excellent experiences and made good friends - still hoping for more.
We live simply and spend a lot of time outdoors. This is a very friendly community and also 25 minutes from the nearest town. Depending on your cell phone provider, coverage may be spotty. Internet and wifi work fine. Enjoy nature!
