Family home backing onto conservation forest and trails near Toronto (Guelph, Ontario, Canada)

Our home is located in the small and quiet city of Guelph, about 1 hour from Toronto. Our home backs onto Preservation Park forest, part of the Hanlon Creek Conservation Area. There are many kilometres of trails through the forest connecting to trails throughout the city. Deer are a common sight, as well as many other birds and animals. Here is a link to the trails in the area:
http://guelph.ca/wp-content/uploads/map_HanlonCreekTrail.pdf

Our home has 3 bedrooms located on the 2nd floor (1 large master bedroom and 2 children's bedrooms), 3 bathrooms (2 with shower, 2 with bath, one bath is jacuzzi).

Our home has skylights throughout and our kitchen and sunroom are bright in the morning.  Our family room has an HDTV with Apple TV (you can use our unlimited Netflix, CraveTV streaming services), digital cable, DVD player and Wii.  The family room also has a pull-out couch bed if you have guests. We have washer and dryer in the Laundry room; a dishwasher, stove and large fridge in the kitchen.  We have central air conditioning and heat.

We have a partially finished basement with a large kid's playroom and an office with computer and high-speed internet and a pull-out couch (can be used as another sleeping room).  We have a 2nd pull-out couch in the playroom. A second computer with internet is located on the 2nd floor. Good wifi and unlimited internet is available throughout the house and outside.

We have kids toys appropriate for 10-14 years old. We have lots of board games as well! We have 4 adult bicycles and 2 kids bicycles that are available to use. We also have lots of outside games, balls, etc.

Our home is located close to Highway 6 and Highway 401 (main East-West Highway in Ontario that connects Windsor to Toronto to Kingston to Montreal).  We are near a city bus route, and a short walk to the neighbourhood shopping, pub, and restaurants.  About 2km from our our city's mall with over 150 shops. It is very easy to get around the neighbourhood by foot or by bicycle.

It is nicknamed The Royal City, as its name comes from the Imperial House of Guelph that once ruled Great Britain. The city is home to the University of Guelph, one of Canada's premier research universities. Guelph is known for its beautiful limestone architecture, vibrant culture and a variety of festivals. It is also considered one of the most livable cities in Canada, with a low crime rates, a clean environment and a relatively high standard of living.  Guelph is part of Wellington Country.

Guelph is well-connected by different transit options:

  • Car -- approximately a 1 hour drive from downtown Toronto, 1.5 hours from Niagara Falls, 30 minutes from St. Jacobs, easy connections to many other cities.

  • Train -- VIA RAIL connects Guelph to Toronto Union Station 3 times daily, GO Train twice daily in morning, back in evening.

  • Bus  -- Greyhound connects many cities including Toronto on a Regular basis, Go Bus connects to Mississauga, Toronto on a regular basis.  City bus service is 20 or 30 minute regular service with connections in Guelph downtown every day except national holidays.

  • Hike or Bike -- Guelph has an extensive trail network and is connected to the Trans Canada Trail.  Many major roads have dedicated bicycle lanes and many of the parks are connected by maintained wilderness trails.

There are lots of things to do in the area:
