House in Ekerö, Sweden
Welcome to Stockholm and Ekerö. Get the chance to enjoy the city of Stockholm as well as the peaceful countryside outside the city.
The house and surroundings
We live in a large, new biult house right by lake Mälaren, in the countryside, 25 km from Stockholm city. Its a beautiful and quiet area. Good public transportation takes you down town or you can use one of our cars thats included in the houseexchange.
Several farmers with cows and horses surrounds the house and the wild nature is close by for you to enjoy. Just 2 km away you have the local groceryshop, and 10 min away you find more stores that you might need.
The house is very modern with free internet acess aswell as TV, computers, dishwasher, washingmashine, dryer, refridgerater and a large freezer.
Close by (walking distance) we have a small, lovely little beach and in the surroundings (10-15 min with car) you'll reach 3-4 other beaches as well. The water is lovely and reaches between 20-25 degrees during a hot and nice summer.
What to do and see
You have the Royal castle, Drottningholm castle, where the royal family lives just 10 km away from our home. A large, lovely garden is open for everyone and alows you close by the castle. from here yoy can jump on a boat to down town Stockholm.
Just a short drive or a boattrip away you will be able to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Birka. The viking town that was founded in the late 8th century by the Swedish king as a trading port i the Lake Mälaren west of Stockholm. For 200 years Birka was an important trading center for the vikings, and modern times archeological excavations have revealed silver, coins and pearls from Arabic as well as Russian regions.
Golfing & and familyactivities
There are lots of wounderful golfcourses near by but also a lot of things to do for a family with children in alla ages. There are plenty of beaches for swimming, indoor pools, the down town Stockholm with museums of all sorts.
For families with kids we specially rekommend the Vasa museum (http://www.vasamuseet.se/), Junibacken (meet Pippi Longstocking and a lot of the caracters from Astrid Lindgrens woundeful books, http://www.junibacken.se/), TomTits, (http://www.tomtit.se), Naturhistoriska riksmuseet, (http://www.nrm.se/) and many, many more.
The absolutley gordius archipelago of Stockholm is easily reached with a boat from down town Stockholm. Use a day or more to enjoy this very special nature.

About Our Family
We are a family of four. Hanna & Thomas works downtown in Stockholm. The kids Ture 12 and Hannes 14, goes to school.
We are an active family that likes to travel, be outdoors and also do sports. We particulary loved skiing, skateing, hinkng and swimming.
We are a family of four that loves the quite outdoor. A hike in the forrest, a swim in the lake, to reach the top of a mountan or a bikeride in the countryside.
