House in WESTPORT, County Mayo, Ireland
In the last no of years, we had four wonderful exchanges in France with: La Rochelle -North Brittany-, Paris and Vannes -South Brittany- and the last one in Oxford, UK; We are now keen to explore new horizons next August 2020. We are particularly interested in an exchange in Europe. We are open to consider offers. Looking forward hearing from you.
There is something magical about our town, Westport. Friendly locals, lots to do and stunning views of Croagh Patrick. From spa resources to rock climbing and snorkelling, from child and family friendly activities to the Great Western Greenway (42 km cycle or walk trail) etc. The Clew Bay is at the other side of Westport, 15 min walk, but approx. 12 min away by car you can find the nearest beach;
Westport is a designated Heritage town and three times overall winner of the National Tidy Towns Competition among many other awards along the years. Westport was voted to best place to live in Ireland last 2012. Our town is situated along the beautiful and authentic west coast of Ireland. If you wish to know more about this town, please visit: http://www.destinationwestport.com/2012/06/27/wonderful-westport-named-the-best-place-to-live-in-ireland/
Westport is approx. 50 min by car from the Knock International Airport or the West of Ireland Connaught Airport. Other than this the airports that we use are Shannon- in the centre of the country (2.30 hrs) or Dublin (3 hrs 30 min) by car from Westport ;
We are a family of five who lives in a charming 1805 three floors terrace house right at the heart of Westport town. At the back of our house we have the access to our garden.
Our three children are aged from 17 to 8 years of age therefore our house is equipped and safe for younger children.
We live at the heart of Westport with less than 3 minutes walk from all the town amenities and shops (supermarkets, Town hall Theater, banks, fishop, bakery, organic market, restaurants, pubs, cinema, public swimming pools, play ground, skateboard park, bike rental shops, railway public walking trails …etc)
The house is a typical Irish terrace with 4 bedrooms with 3 double beds and a bunk bed room, 1 bathroom and two shower rooms. One of the double beds can be made into two singles if needed and one of the double rooms has the an ensuite shower room. The room with the bunks is also our study.
In the ground floor are: the sitting room, the kitchen- dining room with a table for 6- 8 people, the utility room and the small entrance porch.
The kitchen, in the house extension, opens with french doors to back wooden patio. This is a very pleasant sun trap area next to the kitchen where you can enjoy your aperitif while preparing lunch.
We also have a long and narrow garden which overlooks the roof tops and the centre of the town as we live on a hill.
We are a non smoking family and we have an small dog but he will be away during the exchange. We would offer our 7 seater car and our two adults and two children (9 -13 y.old) bikes. There are several bike rental shops in Westport if needed; There is also an open all weather tennis court in Westport or a covered tennis court in Castlebar (20 min away by car)if you like this sport.
We have a weekly cleaner. If you are interested, we could ask her if she could be available to continue cleaning during your stay;
Be ensured that we will all be most respectful of your house and your belongings.

We are a family of five. Ariadna will be 16 y.old this Dec 2017 and is doing trasition year in secondary school . Oisin will be 14 years old next March 2018 and he is in 2nd year of Secondary and Marco is 7 years old. Marco is in 1st year of primary school!
Ariadna studied French and Spanish in the school for 3 years and Oisin is studying 2nd year of French.The both like those languages and we could consider youth exchange with families with children of similar ages in those countries.
Ariadna and Oisin go to piano and Oisin takes part in the Westport youth choir and is a scout.. Both of them completed all the swimming levels. Ariadna is involved in drama and Marco loves his swimming lessons too!.
Leonard and I work full time in the Irish Departments of Education and Health.
We are a very busy but content family!
Our family enjoy open natural spaces, children spaces i.e.. aquatic parks,interactive museums, beaches, walking and also interesting cultural spots for both adults and children. We are looking for an opportunity to share time with our children somewhere in Europe, preferably England ie. London but also open to other offers in Europe!.
We love getting to know and being immersed in different cultures, languages and to enjoy the authentic feeling of being somewhere different.
The house has lost of toys for all ages and in the garden we have a sandpit. We also have 3 bicycles in the garden shed (2 adults and 1 child - 9-13 y.old-).
