A comfortable Home in the four seasons recreation capital of Ontario.

Our home is in a very quiet residential district in the Town of Thornbury, (population 3,000 ), and within sight of the "Blue Mountains," the Four Seasons recreation capital of Ontario. We are surrounded by gardens, and our 3 sunny deck areas are wonderful for lounging, entertaining or barbecuing. Satellite TV, and High speed WiFi are available. the kitchen is equipped with a dish washer, and there's a clothes washer and drier in the laundry room. Should the evenings get chilly, there's a gas fire place in the living room. Our three bedrooms can sleep 6, and there's 2 full baths and a powder room. There's a attached garage to keep the car and bikes, and lots of parking on our paved "off street" driveway. We are a 2 minute stroll to some great pubs and restaurants. There's the renowned Bruce Trail for hiking, on the Niagara Escarpment, (a UNESCO World Heritage Reserve,) and the Georgian Trail, a pleasant railway road bed, reclaimed for biking. There's a tennis court, and a children's play area in a park on the shores of the bay close by. The yacht harbour is near by for water sports, and there's several swimming beaches to choose from featuring crystal clear freshwater, including Wasaga Beach, the worlds longest freshwater sand beach. We have a Kayak for use in the many rivers and Lakes Ontario is famous for. All amenities in The Town of Thornbury are accessible by our bikes. There's a great golf course, (one of several to choose from) which overlooks the Bay, a short 5 minute drive. There's several horse stables near by which offer trail rides through our beautiful countryside. How about a fishing trip up to the 30,000 Island region on the East side of Georgian Bay, about 2 hours drive, A car is available for exchange.

2017 is Canada's 150th birthday, and celebrations to mark the occasion are planned across the country. To mark the year long celebration, free passes to our national parks are being offered to travellers. http://www.pc.gc.ca/eng/index.aspx

A 10 minute drive away is Blue Mountain Village, with even more dining, pubing and shopping, as well as lots of cultural festivals. Niagara Falls is a pleasant 3 hour drive, and the city of Toronto, with all it's attractions, (The CN Tower, Toronto Islands, Casa Loma and Kensington market to name just a few,) is 2.5 hours away, yet we are on the largest freshwater lake system in the world. Algonquin park, Muskoka, and the nations capital, Ottawa, are easily accessible. Toronto International Airport is 2 hours away.

Late summer and fall are ideal times to visit our area. The warm days invite using the many water activities, The cool nights will bring on the fall foliage colour change that make our many area forest glow with colour, and offer a photographers paradise. There's lots of fall festivals in the area to take in. The nearby towns of Collingwood and Owen Sound, offer extensive cultural activities, or do a road trip to Tobermory, and sail on the "Chi-Cheemaun" car ferry to explore the world's largest fresh water Island. There's a seemingly endless list of things to do in our young and fresh country.

Lifestyle

Linda and I are active seniors who enjoy hiking, biking, kayaking, which is why our part of Ontario is so appealing. (www.brucetrail.org) and (www.visitgeorgianbay.com), describe just some of the attractions we can access. We enjoy cultural experiences as well, and are lucky in that Toronto with it's many cultural resources is only 2.5 hours away. Toronto is recognized as being one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world.

There is now a subway station at Vaughn Corporate centre, under 2 hours from our house, and with free parking. The subway takes you downtown in about 45 minutes.

We look forward to exploring the land of my birth, Austria which my parents emigrated from some 60 years ago, (I was 5 years old). I still speak German, and would like to brush up my skills.
