An ideal family home, well placed to explore Scotland.

Our home is a spacious 4 bedroomed house situated in the attractive village of Longforgan, ideally located overlooking the River Tay between Perth and Dundee. This is an ideal location from which to explore all the features of our beautiful country, Scotland. From the historic castle cities of Edinburgh (1 hr), Perth (20 mins) and Stirling (1 hr), to the exciting cities of Glasgow (just over 1 hr), Aberdeen (1 hr) or Dundee (10 mins). There are also numerous world-renowned golf courses very close by; St. Andrews, Carnoustie and Gleneagles all within 30 minutes drive. The stunningly beautiful Highlands of Scotland are around 45 minutes drive from our home.
Dundee (10 mins) itself has many attractions. Last year saw the opening of the V & A Museum on the waterfront of the city, attracting visitors from all around the world. There are lots of other interesting features to explore starting with 'The Discovery', ship of Captain Scott's voyage to Antarctica and HM Unicorn. Learn about Dundee's more recent history at the McManus Galleries and the Verdant Works museum. Gaze at the stars from the Mills Observatory or at the exotic plants at the Botanic Gardens. For families there are plenty of options from Camperdown Country Park and Zoo, Dundee Science Centre and fun-filled leisure pool, The Olympia. There are many cafes, restaurants and bars to explore in between seeing the sights. Finally, there are beautiful stretches of unspoilt sandy beach at Broughty Ferry and Tentsmuir, where you may spot seals and porpoises frolicking in the Tay estuary.

The beautiful little city of Perth (20 mins) has two large scenic parks set on the banks of the River Tay and has many upmarket shops and restaurants, as well as a Concert Hall and IMAX cinema.
If you'd like to get out into the wilds of the Scottish Highlands, the Cairngorms National Park is less than an hours drive away, with plenty of hill-walking, climbing, canoeing, fishing, gorge-walking, horse-riding and many other outdoor pursuits on offer. The picturesque highland towns of Pitlochry, Crieff and Comrie are all less than hour's drive away.
Dundee has had a turbulent history and this is reflected in the large number of medieval castles in the area: You can visit Broughty Ferry Castle for free, or travel to Claypotts Castle, royal Glamis Castle or dramatic Dunottar Castle, all less than an hour's travel away.

Longforgan is a small, historic village with a few streets leading off Main Street which is one of the oldest parts of the village with a charming mix of cottages, a bowling club, primary school, Coaching Inn for pub meals and drinks, Church and the Village Shop which supplies the basics. Half way along Main Street the 17th-century Mercat Cross is protected as a category A listed building. Castle Road is another of the oldest streets in Longforgan, and as the name suggests, was the main road from the church down to Castle Huntly. Many of the houses are original whitewashed cottage houses used in the past by land workers on the estate. There are plenty of beautiful, countryside walks from our home - taking in the rich fertile fields of the Carse of Gowrie, the views of the silvery River Tay and the hills of Fife behind. While our village is a relaxing, beautiful spot, it is literally minutes away from the A90 providing speedy road links to Dundee and Perth (10-15mins) and beyond.
