Log cabin on a wilderness lake near Kajaani, sleeps 10

The property consists of three small log buildings onshore a wilderness lake (32 kms from the nearest paved road), one being a sauna; one the 'main' building with a living-room, a small bedroom, kitchen and a small loft, and one a utility building with an additional bedroom and a separate storage room.

The buildings are brand new and the place spectacular, but there is NO running water or water toilet there! No TV or other electrical entertainment either! We bring our drinking water with us when we go there and use our biological toilet, the outhouse if you like, which of course is as hygienic and comfortable as any other toilet we know... but I know opinions can vary.

We have seen wolves' tracks on the ground around the buildings there and also bears are said to be regular inhabitants in this district. Well, why wouldn't they - with a bit of luck it is possible to spot one anywhere in the country. But sadly, they tend to yield and keep to themselves...;) As a proof of this, I can tell you I have never seen one myself anywhere in the country in my 48 years. However, every summer I get to see a couple of vipers... but they don't like people either and they will therefore avoid your company. So no worries about wildlife.

I had a solar panel installed onto the log cabin in the summer of 2014 to produce enough electricity for running a fridge/freezer and basic illumination. You know, the idea is to live in a rather primitive fashion when having  'mökki' time as we call it here... Nice weather, nice landscape, delicious food made outdoors, lake, boating & fishing, swimming, sauna and some drink, that's all one needs there!

Our Neighbourhood

Uninhabited wilderness. About 30 kilometers of gravel road to the nearest village and 65 kms to the nearest town (Kajaani), of which 32 kms unpaved. Occasional nature or fishing enthusiasts may be encountered in the area, though rarely. Yet there's one "neighbour" 200 m away, with a similar-style summer home. I get to meet them a couple of times during the summer. But other than that, there will be no other people or any downsides of the "civilisation" here. All in all, it should be VERY quiet and peaceful. You will experience the Finnish unspoiled nature and silence,

About Our Family

I love to travel and I am most easily talked into exchanging homes especially if you can offer me a nicely located home in a country I have never been to (and one not too complicated to fly to - and for a reasonable fare).

PREVIOUS AND FUTURE EXCHANGES
I started with Intervac in 2007 and so far I have realised seven successful exchanges, with
1. France (Marseille, FR070004), July-August 2007,
2. Ireland (Donabate, outskirts of Dublin, IE7067), June-July 2008,
3. France (Paris, FR070674), December 2008-January 2009.
4. UK/Scotland (Glasgow, GB412159) July 2009,
5. France (Avignon, FR110178) July 2011.
6. The Netherlands (Woubrugge near Amsterdam, NL0258)  August 2012.
7. Switzerland (Waldkirch) July 2014.

My next exchange possibility is summer 2016 (June through August). Be the early worm! Or bird, or whatever!

The duration of the exchange depends of course on the destination and the partner's situation/wishes. I'd rather see myself exchanging with a person/family living in Venezia-Trieste range in Italy (or former Yugoslavia states like Slovenia, Croatia and Montenegro). Please feel free to suggest any kind of exchange - I will surely answer your queries.

También puedo comunicar en español si es necesario - och på svenska förstås, men det går ju lite svårare... Deutsch kann ich nicht gut sprechen, nur ein bisschen.

I got divorced in 2011 and now live with one of my sons, at times with more children. I may travel either by myself or with my current partner, without children or with a couple of them.
