Open for exchange
Exchange dates Duration
November 06, 2017 - October 01, 2019 2 weeks

Now we have both retired, we can exchange with more flexibility. Our constraints are the busy months for beekeeping and exam marking, so would prefer not to have any long exchanges from April to July. We are interested in short, maybe weekend, exchanges for short travel distances as well as longer exchanges, perhaps up to 4 weeks for longer travel distances.

Our Neighbourhood

Nearest Airport: Birmingham BHX - 28 miles

Our home is in a small estate of modern houses built around 2000. We are at the end of a cul-de-sac, so there is little noise or traffic. Despite being close to the M5 motorway, we only hear noise in the back garden when the wind is in one direction; the benefits of being close to a motorway junction mean that you can easily get to most places, in any direction, from our house.

To the north, we have the large city of Birmingham, with some great art galleries and museums. Past Birmingham, there are the potteries of Staffordshire.

To the west, we have the beautiful, rural counties of Shropshire and Herefordshire, with their lovely black and white timbered buildings. A little further to the west is Wales, about 2 hours drive away.

To the east, we have Oxford, about half way to London.

To the south, we have the Cotswolds, an area of outstanding beauty, and further south, under 2 hours drive away, the busy city of Bristol.

Picture 1: The  RSC theatre at Stratford upon Avon.  World-class theatre only 35 min drive away.  Swans on the Avon, Ann Hathaway's cottage, Shakespeare's birthplace and burial place all nearby in Stratford. Black and white timber houses in Stratford as well.
Picture 2: Black and white houses in Shrewsbury. Hereford, Ludlow and other ancient market towns nearby worth visiting.
Picture 3: Symond's Yat, a famous beauty spot, about 20 miles west of our house.  Good for walking on both the flat or uphill.  There is still a river crossing by hand-operated ferry for foot passengers
Picture 4: Chaddesley Corbett woods, about 5 miles from us
