The main picture is the view that you will see from our front window. We live in a quiet road on a small housing estate, just outside Cardiff. We have a lovely quiet grassed area outside our front door and a park for small children to play just a short stroll down the road.
We're interested in an exchange for 2 weeks between July and September 2016. We're open to all offers: Scandinavia, South of France, Italy, Portugal, Bavaria, USA, etc, but would prefer somewhere quiet, with nice views of the sea, lake or countryside. We would also be interested in short exchanges in other parts of the UK or Europe. We will always respond to any offers. We have done many wonderful Intervac exchanges in Europe and Canada. You can be assured that we will look after your home.
These are pictures of our house. We have 3 double bedrooms (2 with en-suite bathrooms), and a family bathroom. Downstairs we have a lounge, dining room with an orangery sun lounge and large terrace overlooking a cared-for garden, study, kitchen and cloakroom.
We have a nice garden with a grassed area, decking and glasshouse. In the summer time, you can eat fresh tomatoes from the glasshouse. We often eat out in the garden as the back garden has sun from midday onwards and has the most beautiful sunsets. In front of our house we have a small garden and a lovely green with an ancient oak tree (as seen in the photo in the main picture) and beyond are fields for you to walk in and enjoy the countryside.

Getting to Wales is easy: we have Cardiff, Wales International Airport just 25 minutes away, with Bristol Airport about 1 hour away, Birmingham and London Heathrow Airports about 2 hours away.
Ideally, we'd like to make use of cheap flights (Easyjet, Ryan or KLM City Hopper) and booking early seems to give good value, so we're keen to arrange things ahead of time.
A bit about Wales. Wales is a celtic nation and we have a unique culture and language. Many people in Wales speak Welsh, but almost all speak English too, so don't worry. Our visitors always comment that the people in Wales are very friendly. We have a beautiful coastline, voted the best in the world by Lonely Planet. From May 2012, it has been possible to walk the entire length of the coast around Wales, the only country in the world where this is possible. Wales has many glorious beaches. We also have many mountains in the centre and north of the country and many, many castles.
Cardiff Bay has been developed over recent years from a busy dockland area into an impressive water and leisure resort and there you can enjoy many water sports. It also boasts many eating places with food from all areas of the world. If you like shopping, Cardiff has a lot to offer with the new and impressive St David's 2 development. Cardiff is a very green city, with many parks and countryside areas surrounding the city.
Cardiff also has many cultural and music venues such as St David's Hall and the Wales Millenium Centre. And if you're interested in sport, then we also have Cardiff City Football Club and of course the Millennium Stadium where many major sporting events are held.
We are only 20 minutes from the sea and 40 minutes from the mountains of Brecon Beacons National Park.
Cardiff Bay is Europe's newest and biggest (and best!) waterfront development and is about 15 minutes drive away. Cardiff city centre (about 15 minutes away) has many attractions including the Castle, the Millennium Stadium and a large and impressive shopping centre.
We have many local golf clubs: the nearest being less than 5 minutes away, with the Celtic Manor Resort (home of the Ryder Cup 2010) about 25 minutes away.
The sea is about 20 minutes away, with other beaches just along the coastline. A little further afield (1-2 hours) are the beautiful beaches of The Gower Penisular and the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path.
We have lots and lots of castles in Wales. You can walk to 3 castles from our house: Cardiff Castle, Castell Coch and St. Fagans Castle.

About Our Family
Martin is a surveyor and Deb (me) I'm a Dietitian. We have three children who are now independent so will probably not be coming on holiday with us. So, it will likely be just Martin and I who exchange.
We are non-smokers and would also welcome non-smoking guests.
We have a cat called Maddie. She is a shy, but friendly cat and like all cats very independent. She sleeps all day and spends all night out. So we would be grateful if you could feed her. If you decide to spend some time away from our house, our pleasant neighbours can care for Maddie.
Our Intervac adventures: Our daughter did a youth exchange in Austria and enjoyed it very much. We have been so privileged to have had some lovely holidays in Mallorca, San Sebastian,Tarragona, Crete and Salzburg and made many friends along the way. In 2011, we had a wonderful holiday in Canada. In 2012, we visited Iceland and in 2013 Switzerland. Already thinking ahead to 2016: we're open to all offers.
We are very responsible and will show great respect to your home and you will return home to find it just as clean and tidy as when you left. We therefore would expect the same from you.
It would be great to discuss an exchange in more detail if you are interested in visiting Wales. I look forward to hearing from you.
We enjoy walking in the countryside near our home (50 metres away) and along the coast just a short drive away (about 20 minutes). In May 2012, Wales became the first country in the world that has a coastal path for the entire length of its coastline. Lonely Planet has voted it the best coastline in the world. See pictures of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path.
We have many books about Wales to read during your visit and will leave lots of local maps and information about things to do and places to visit in the area.
We also have a computer with internet access, plenty of music CDs and DVDs to watch if you are interested. We also have a Wii to use.
We'd like to exchange cars too, we have a new Hyundai i30 which has A/C and seats 5 people comfortably.
