A lovely 4 bed home overlooking the sea in Skerries, Co. Dublin
Our home is located on the sea front in Skerries, Co. Dublin. It has fantastic sea views and you can hear the waves rolling up on the shore. Within walking distance there is a great mix of restaurants, shops, bars and cafes in the picturesque town.
We renovated our 1930s house in 2015 to make it a wonderful, comfortable family home. While retaining the period features we have extended the house to make it very bright and spacious. It allows for easy entertaining and relaxation.
There is a large kitchen/dining area to the rear with comfortable sofas and a long dining table. The kitchen has a dishwasher, large fridge, microwave and coffee machine. Double doors slide open allowing easy access to a patio with a table and chairs. The south facing back garden gets great sunshine in the afternoons ideal for summer barbeques. The utility room houses a washing machine and sink.
The front sitting room overlooks the sea. It has an open fire and TV and can be closed off from the kitchen/dining area with double doors. The dining room next to it has a wood burning stove, table and chairs and a CD/stereo.
There is a downstairs WC off the front hall. The downstairs shower is handy after a swim in the sea. The outdoor taps in the front and back gardens will wash away all that sand.
Upstairs there are three spacious double bedrooms, an office overlooking the sea and a bathroom with a shower and a bath.
The house overlooks a beautiful, safe sandy beach with a lifeguard on duty during the bathing season. A short walk around the headland brings you to the harbour and a host of activities including sailing, kayaking and windsurfing. You can watch the sunset here in one of the string of restaurants or traditional pubs overlooking the harbour, or treat yourself to an icecream from ”Storm in a Teacup”.
The bikes in the shed are available for jaunts around the town or for forays along the many small roads winding up from the town to the openness of the fields and hedgerows. A climb up to Ardgillan Castle will be well rewarded by the breath taking sea views and refreshments in the quaint tearooms. Afterwards you can while away a few hours with walks around the acres of grounds and fabulous gardens. The walled vegetable gardens and rose gardens are immaculately kept. Children will love the spacious playground.
