The montemerano village is situated in Tuscany, in the countryside of Maremma; in the middle of hills, wineyards and olive trees. The centre of Montemerano where our house is situated is on top of the hill that is called "castle" with houses built in stone and car-free streets and squares. it is one of the most interesting villages of Maremma and there are also boutiques, drugstores, restaurants cafés,...
At about 5 km from Montemerano the thermal baths of Saturnia offer swimming pools, golf course, thermal therapy, massages, etc...
There are many picturesque villages in the neighbourhood within 20-30 km, well-known for their historical importance as the inheritance during ethrusque period, the middle age and the renaissance époque: vulci, sovana, sorano, pitigliano, capalbio, etc...the near important towns are Siena, Orvieto and Viterbo.
The seaside where we go, almost everyday during the summer, is situated in about 40 minutes by car from our house. one can choose among Capalbio and Feniglia beaches (with a pine walk), as well as the beaches of argentario, the Talamone rocks or the National Uccellina Park, a bit more distant but very interesting to visit.
For the mountain lovers there's the Monte Amiata (1700 high), with thick chestnut and beech wood, where you can ski in the winter or have great walks in the summer.
