Family House in Historical Royal City Breda, Netherlands (South)
For the summer period 2024 we are open to an exchange for 2-3 weeks mid july - mid August.
Why is Breda a good base for a holiday?
It has everything going for it. Historic cities, but nature always close by. Art and history, Burgundian lifestyle with delicious food in cozy restaurants.
Breda is close to the Belgian border. This gives you the best of 2 countries within reach:
Both capitals; Amsterdam and the capital of Belgium; Brussels, are one hour drive away. Antwerp 45 minutes and Bruges 1.45 hours. Also easy to reach by train. (Breda train station = 20 minutes by bus from our house)
Breda is a sparkling town with a charming historical city center. The history of our country and 'Royal Dutch Family of Orange' largely took place in Breda.
Our home is situated in a green, safe and child friendly neighborhood. It's cosy, clean, quiet and family friendly. The garden gives you a lot of privacy. Within 20 to 30 minute walk from the center. However, from our house you are also within a 10-minute walk in nature environment: the forest 'Mastbos' and river landscape 'the Mark' where you can also enjoy cycling, walking or swimming.
We have a supermarket and small shops within walking distance. Close to our house is also a beautiful public outdoor swimming pool 'Wolfslaar', a few parks, castles, an animal farm and a big playground. We live 25 km from the most popular and world famous fairytale theme-park 'The Efteling'.
For art and history lovers: Vincent van Gogh's birthplace and house in 'Zundert' is near by Breda and open to visit. If you want to know more about our famous painters, like Van Gogh and Rembrandt? Travel to Amsterdam to visit the Vincent van Gogh Museum, the Rijks Museum with the world famous 'Night Watch' of Rembrandt.
Other historical activities to visit, fun for young and old: Anne Frank House, Zaansche Schans and all the different old-fashioned Dutch cheese markets in Gouda, Alkmaar or Edam.

Familepresentasjonstekst
Ronald is 51 years old. He is an educational policymaker at the Avans University of Applied Sciences in Breda. Maira is 47 and works as traffic education advisor. Sil is 16 years old and Mika is 14 years old. They both like to play football.
Livsstil
We love sports, biking, swimming and hiking. A holiday for us is a mix of entertainment, education and action!
