1 story house in Kailua, Hawaii USA

Our one-story home in Kailua, Hawaii USA (approx 1800 sq ft/200 sq m) is most suitable for a couple or single.  It is located at the foot of the Ko‘olau Mountains in peaceful, lush Maunawili Valley, Kailua, a suburb of Honolulu, on the windward side of the island of Oahu.  It is artfully decorated (Oriental rugs and eclectic collection of art), furnished as one large bedroom (queen sized bed) with ensuite bathroom, 2 studies (one with small TV and basic cable access), 2 bathrooms, eat-in kitchen (all appliances except dishwasher), separate dining room, living room, large enclosed lanai (gallery cum library), Apple iMac desktop computer, DSL and wireless Internet access, piano, washer, dryer, 2 cars (2004  & 1996 Toyota Corollas, automatic, necessary to get around), gardener, no housekeeper, no pets, tropical fruit trees (bananas, papayas, pineapples, guavas), views of the Ko‘olau Mountains on Oahu's windward side.  Our house and cars are smoke-free and we ask our guests for the same.

8 miles/12 km to downtown Honolulu, 4 miles/6 km to Kailua town (supermarkets, shopping, restaurants), 4 miles/6 km to Kailua Beach (great swimming and body-surfing), 13 miles/21 km to the University of Hawaii, 11 miles/18 km to Ala Moana Center (vast shopping complex), 13 miles/21 km to Waikiki Beach, 10 miles/16 km to museums; golf courses and hiking trails nearby.

Our weather year-round is mostly consistent, with daytime temperatures ranging from high 70sF/26C to 90F/32C depending on the season. It tends to be wetter in our valley, but a short drive outside the valley and it can be very warm and dry.

Active volcanoes are less than an hour's flight away on the island of Hawaii, the largest of the Hawaiian Islands and the one that gives its name to the state. The islands of Maui and Kauai are each reachable by air (20-minute flight) and offer interesting attractions for day or longer excursions.
