Not summer 2020 |
House in FROME near BATH, Somerset, Great Britain. Nearest airport Bristol 1 hour, London Heathrow or Gatwick 2.5 hours by car.
We love Intervac and have completed many fantastic exchanges over the past 20 years.
We are sorry we are not able to exchange in Summer 2020 as we have family commitments, although we are looking for a week in Scotland in Mid May 2020 to use as a base for walking.
We have no plans for late September/ October 2020 if you'd like to make us an offer, in the UK or Europe.
We are planning ahead for 2022 to include a longer trip to Canada at some point as we would like to combine visiting relatives with a stop off in central Canada. -Looking for a base somewhere in the Rockies to use as a base for touring and exploring the great outdoors.
Our historic market town is a great destination in the South West of England do have a look at the website http://www.discoverfrome.co.uk you will find a link to a recent article in the New York Times whose correspondent visited a local art gallery in the next town (Bruton) and also came to Frome and loved it! You will find Bath, Stonehenge and London are easily reached from Frome.
We have a VW Golf car we would be happy to exchange with you and lots of experience to offer, our first ever exchange was to Seattle in 1999 and we have been Intervac-ing ever since.
A bit about us: We are a family of four, Gary and Tamsin are both teachers and have older children who may join us on holiday, our son aged 19 and daughter 21 (both studying at University) . The family have grown up with home exchanges and we will take the utmost care of your home. We have completed over 29 Intervac exchanges, both in the UK and around the world.
OUR HOME Our house is built of local stone and originally dates from about 1750. It has been fully renovated and is in the middle of this small market town at the end of a terrace on a very narrow street. There is a private parking place opposite the house. If you would like to exchange cars we have a VW Golf which you are welcome to use. There is very little traffic our street, but many people walk by the house on the way to the town centre.
There is a fantastic market on the first Sunday of each month ('Frome Independent') when the whole town is full of local produce and crafts. There is also a smaller market each Wednesday and Saturday.
Our home is arranged over three floors and the heart of the home is a large kitchen dining room which leads onto a small sheltered courtyard garden. The first floor has two good sized bedrooms and a large family bathroom and the second floor has a large guest room and the master bedroom with an en suite bathroom.
OUR LITTLE TOWN Frome is an historic market town with a population of 30,000. It has old, narrow streets of the town centre twist up the surrounding hills. The historic and trendy Catherine Hill with its cobbled street is right at the end of our road and has some great coffee shops to enjoy! There are many interesting historic buildings within the town. Frome has a Sports Centre (with gym, swimming pool, badminton and squash courts etc), two theatres, a cinema and an Arts and Crafts Centre. There are two parks that have good childrens' playgrounds within walking distance, the larger of which also has tennis courts, and plenty of open space. Our house is in a residential area and very well situated in the town, it takes a few minutes to walk to the town centre, and yet in ten or fifteen minutes one can walk to the edge of the town into open countryside. Frome is surrounded by very beautiful countryside and woods, fields, hills, rivers, villages and lovely country pubs are all within easy reach by foot. We have lots of maps and the area is great for walking.
