 FRASCATI
Is famous for good white wine and for being the summer residence of Popes and noblemen from the fifteenth century. It has many renaissance villas and interesting churches. The house is located in the centre (Via delle Fratte). The walks in this little town offer a fantastic view on Roma, very interesting is that you can distinguish San Pietro and also the sea of Ostia. During the summer there is a theatre festival and in the historic centre you can have nice promenade. From Frascati you can reach, also walking in the forest by feet, Tusculum, the old town of the Roman age, where there are the ruins of an old theatre and of some houses.
The "osterie" or “fraschette” are typical of Frascati, you can drink wine, and you can bring your meal, also home made, or buy something to eat. We are sure you find a description of Frascati in every good touristic guide.
In Frascati you can find a lot of restaurants, pizzeria, bars, pubs, supermarkets, shops for which we can give you some suggestions. There is also a local market every day in Piazza del Mercato (200 m. from the house) and every Saturday there is, in the square under the house, a small food market organised by Slow Food, where you can find the typical products of the area sold directly by the producer.
Each month, on the first Sunday, there is a an antiquarian market in the centre of the town.

THE REGION
The area where Frascati is located is called the Castelli Romani (roman castles). The Castelli Romani include the most interesting cities of the Roman hinterland, like Monte Porzio Catone, Monte Compatri, Colonna, Rocca Priora, Rocca di Papa, Grottaferrata, Marino, Castelgandolfo. These cities have grown on hills ranging from 300 to 850 meters above sea level.
Of course the main town near Frascati is Roma (I go every day to work with public transport).
If you like to move in the region Lazio, or Umbria or Campania is useful to have or to rent a car; in two hours by car from Frascati you can reach Pompei or Assisi or Orvieto, or you can go for skiing while in 50 minutes you are on the beach to swim.

TRANSPORT
Frascati has a train station from 1854. The house is 500 m far from the station. There is a train each hour and in 30 minutes you reach or come from the main station of Roma (Termini station). You can find the timetable on the web site www.trenitalia.com. There are also buses each 30 minutes from/to the underground of Roma (head station of Anagnina).
By car you can reach Frascati by motorway (A1: exit Monte Porzio Catone) or using the Tuscolana that from Roma reaches the centre of Frascati.
If you come by plane:
1) if you land in Fiumicino (Leonardo da Vinci airport) you have to reach the Termini station and then you can take the train or you can take a taxi but you have to manage the price that is around 50 €, and in 40 minutes you are in Frascati;
2) if you land in Ciampino airport (the nearest airport where land the most part of low cost companies) you can take a bus to the underground station Anagnina and then a bus to Frascati, or you can take a Taxi and with 30 € ca. you are in Frascati in 20 minutes or less.
