House in Utrecht close to Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Our home is located in a friendly quiet, green part of the city. There is a grand living room with a nice view at the garden. There are two bedrooms.
It is only a few minutes walking to the famous (UNESCO world heritage) Rietveld-Schröderhouse and about 20 minutes to the canals surrounding the old city center, passing through a beautiful park and a shopping street with nice restaurants.

About the neighborhood
As Utrecht is an old University city you will find many cinemas and theatres. Cafe’s and restaurants are often situated at the famous canals and wharfs (also UNESCO world heritage). There are interesting museums, churches and Cathedrals (some from Medieval times) and a modern huge music centre for all kinds of music and every-year-festivals.
Walking from the house in the other direction you will enter Amelisweerd, a lushy green lung around an old part of the Rhine. A beautiful swimming pool and the University Science Park with a botanical garden are very nearby.
The central railway station is reached by a 15 min bus ride. Amsterdam is easy to visit within half an hour by train (other cities and the beach as well). By direct train it takes 30 min to Amsterdam airport Schiphol.
By bike, car or public transport you might visit lakes, mills and castles.
It is very special to see the typical Dutch flat green ‘polder’ landscape with rivers and dykes along the rivers.

As a family with two children we made wonderful exchanges together, with families in Wales, Finland, the US (East and West), Iceland and France. Always we tried to make a nice combination of nature and culture.
After some years of backpacking together we like to restart home exchange. Maybe sometimes with family or friends.
