Would love to go southern Sweden, Denmark or southern Norway!

Cosy home in charming old village Gasselte. Near Groningen: 'One of the best places to visit in Europe'.

Come and experience the beauty of the Dutch countryside in the province of Drenthe. We are a family with two boys aged 7 and 10 and two friendly cats. And we love the intervac concept! We answer all invitations, don't hesitate to send us a message. We are also interested in weekend exchanges at max 3 hrs drive.

Our home is a small but cosy detached house with 3 bedrooms, built in 1930, with a big garden (1700 m2).
Lay-out of the house:
Downstairs:
- small livingroom (the snug)
- separate kitchen/diner with a large table
- small bathroom with bathtub, toilet and sink
- bedroom (work in progress)
- Hallway with Siebren's atelier under the stairs
Upstairs:
- master bedroom (work in progress)
- bedroom with two bunkbeds (the boys' room, work in progress)
- bathroom with sink and toilet

In the attic of the large garage, our boys have their own play room. There are also two spare beds located there. The garden offers several places to sit and has a lot of shade in summer. Nature trail 't Brummelpad starts just at the other side of the road.

There is a trampoline and soccer goal in the garden and of course we have lots of toys for little boys and board games for grown ups. Lots of reading material (also in English and some in German), DVD's and xbox/playstation games.

To get a taste of the countryside, check out the northern provinces of the Netherlands from above:

If you have a son or daughter considering studying in Groningen or somewhere else in the Netherlands, you and your child are welcome to stay at our place for a few days to explore the possibilities. Charissa works in international student recruitment, so she is happy to help you on your way!

About Our Family

Hi!
We're Reinier (42, art school alumnus turned planning officer in infrastructural projects), Charissa (42, historian turned communications officer at the University of Groningen), Arend (sporty ten year old boy) and Siebren (creative six year old boy) Caron. And  we'de love to exchange homes with you!

We love being outdoors, that's why we moved from The Hague to the countryside. Our two very energetic boys now have plenty of space to run around.

Ofcourse we have lots of toys, especially cars, trains, duplo, LEGO, bikes and other wheeled vehicles for your children to play with and everything you need for a baby.

We adopted two five year old cats from the animal shelter. They are easy going, also with small children.

Lifestyle

When she's not working or playing games with the children, Charissa loves to sing and act with her musicaltheater choir. If there's any time left, you can find her working in the garden or reading sci-fi books. In summer, she goes to to an arts camp for a week in the local woods (Buitenkunst). Most times, the children join her.

Reinier loves to make art, builds remote controlled cars, tinkers with software and is a bit of a gamer (lots of Xbox and PlayStation 2 games here!). He also knows the best spots to find mushrooms in the surrounding woods.

Arend is quite athletic and loves to play soccer with his friends at school and recently joined the soccer team in Gieten. He also enjoys his parcours training sessions a lot and rehearses his newly learned trics on the trampoline in the back yard. In addition, he has a LEGO-, hotwheels-, and Pokemon addiction, and would love to play soccer on the PlayStation all day.

Siebren is a very energetic and creative little boy. He loves drawing, creating works of art with paper, paint, tape and play-doh, playing with LEGO and cars, going to his parcours training sessions and dressing up like Harry Potter. He too loves Pokemon.
