We live in Mérida, a little city of 60.000 inhabitants, just in the center of Extremadura, Spain. Our region, Extremadura: For natural reasons.Extremadura is one the European inner regions with more variations: largest number of kilometres of river and lake edges; one of the first regions in number of gorges; the first in pastures; one of the luckiest in terms of biological diversity...the wild goat of the top of the mountains, the wild boar, the otter, the Pyrenean muskrat, the black stork and the black vulture. The geography of Extremadura comprehends almost all ecosystems: from the heights of Gredos, valleys adorned with oaks and chestnuts trees, large areas of pasture with holm oaks and cork-oaks, to our inmense water sheets, peneplanes and mountains which give shelter to the most complete and diverse fauna and flora, and then help to the development of important natural protected areas in its whole geography. Wonderful natural monuments. Water, ground and air are our best natural reasons.We are near Portugal too.
