Good Stockholm location - house within city. One of most popular neighbourhoods. Large villa with beautiful sea view on island in Stockholm. Big garden w trampoline and plenty of bathrobe-walk morning swims. Walk/bike/direct bus/road to city center.
Best location in Stockholm. High location with morning sun, sunsets and sea view towards south. Short walk to morning swim or jog 3k around the island or to Bromma or to the downtown areas of Kungsholmen or Södermalm. A beautiful grand old villa from 1930 in one of Stockholm’s absolute top neighbourhoods. 250 square meter living (100 sqm garage etc) on an island that is within city parameters of Stockholm (walk, bike, direct bus, train or 10-minute drive. ) but that simultaneously is like a small village with beautiful houses, parks, places to and a few restaurants and cafes. Lies in the end of a dead-end street with very few cars and very silent.
The interior:
Hardwood floor throughout house. Four bedrooms (two bathrooms) on first floor. Extra bedroom, living room with small balcony, dining room and kitchen on upper floor (and one bathroom). On third floor (attic) there is a teenage room as well as an extra bedroom (one small bathroom).
The kitchen is of course fully equipped kitchen and lies in direct contact with a large dining table with nice views. There is also a terrace with two sofas and a table for day-time snacking and resting in the sun (no evening sun from that side)
Our garden has a large trampoline (with safety net), a home-made fotball/soccer goal, basketball, dining table, patio with grill and a sofa where you can sit and enjoy the view and sounds of the sea (boats and guls). On the island (like a three minute walk in bathrobe), you have many opportunities to swim and you have beautiful boradwalks around the island of approx 3 km. In addition to a lot of places to swim in the sea, just nearby on the island you have a small playground and larger with a "play pool" for the youngest, a kids basketball court, swings as well as a full size fotball field.
If you want to visit Stockholm and stay in a house with garden, bbq and no hassle with parking, then Stora Essingen is the best place to stay. On an island inside the city parameters, you bike to the city in 10 minutes (bike paths all the way) or even walk over two bridges with beautiful scenery to Kungshomen in 20 minutes. The walk along Norr Mälarstrand to the city center is one of the nicest you'll come across. You can also go with regular boat service to city or to Drottningholm castle

About the neighborhood
Location on Stora Essingen, is as beautiful and convenient as it gets in Stockholm. In spite of being within city parameters, Stora Essingen is like a small town with some cute cafes and restaurants, convenience store, book and flower shop and a gym. The jogging track around the island goes trough nature and beautiful scenery over Stockholm's waters is 3,5 km, If you swim around the island you'll end up at 4 km. There are also super nice jogging tracks along the waters of Bromma, towards he south or why not the 10K circle around the main body of water, Riddarfjärden, downtown Stockholm. We have a large playground with kids "pool", a large sport/football field, one "beach" and an additional two jettys to use for your morning swim.

Fredrik and Frida's home was exactly as described. The house and neighbourhood is lovely and made a wonderful base to explore Stockholm. They were friendly and efficient to deal with and they were very good guests in our home. We would have no hesitation in recommending them as exchange partners.

We are a family of six, Frida and Fredrik and our three girls and little brother. Fredrik works in sustainability, Frida with IT and as such we have lived in London, Hong Kong and Thailand as a family, Fredrik in Mozambique and Dallas and Frida in San Diego and Paris. We like sports, travel, food and being with friends and family (who to large extent live in the nearby areas of Stockholm). Fredrik loves nature, camping and open water swimming, while Frida is more into running.
