Family home offer the best of many worlds - beaches, forest and Sydney
Our house is regular family house in a peaceful, forest setting, yet close to the Illawarra's beautiful beaches, a top hang gliding spot and Sydney's Royal National Park (with sensational coastal views and walking tracks). It is also one hour by car or train to Sydney's most iconic landmarks (the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Opera House) or Wollongong – so Otford offers the best of many worlds. Our home is a two level family home with one bathroom, four bedrooms and a lovely back patio overlooking the Hacking River.
We have high school aged children so our main potential travel blocks is our summer school holidays from late December - late Jan.

About the neighborhood
Otford is a village of approximately 100 houses located half way between Sydney and Wollongong. Otford is nestled in the quiet valley of the Hacking River. The Royal National Park borders Otford to the north and offers spectacular coastal views, cliff top walking and swimming spots. To the south is Bald Hill Headland Reserve, a renowned hang gliding location. There are many uncrowded surf beaches and rock pools to the south so swimming and surfing are easy. Otford is on the Sydney to Wollongong train line and has its own railway station. Helensburgh, just up the hill has all the regular shops required for supplies. If getting up close with some iconic Australian wildlife takes your fancy, Symbio Wildlife Park offers hand feeding of kangaroos and koala cuddles. Otford is a peaceful location for people looking to visit away from busy crowds - yet still with all Sydney has to offer only an hour away on the train.

We are a family of four, of which three love skiing and all things snow. Myself (Paul) am a nautical cartographer and volunteer firefighter with our local fire brigade. My wife Pauline is a geochemist researching past climates. Our two daughters have a love of adventure and would love to experience a snowy northern hemisphere winter.
