House with a single floor, slighltly above street level, with 3 bedrooms, 3 wcs, sleeps 5, but can eaily fit up to 3 more people (couch in the living room for two and a solarium with one single bed). A solarium with bright light, serves as a second living room, a living room and dinning room communicating with a modern fully equiped kitchen that leads into the solarium. The house has a small backyard, between walls with a wc (toilet and washbasin) and washing machine for clothes. A great roof top with a fantastic view to ria de alvor, ideal for barbecues and meals outside as well as sun bathing.
Mexilhoeira Grande is a village that belongs to Portimão city, lays on a slope that oversees Ria de Alvor one of the main interest points, fantastic views, ideal for walking, trekking cycling, kitesurfing, bathing on the salty waters of the Ria de Alvor.
The village is full of cultural events and happenings throughout the year, many different points of interest to visit, being the village center one of them, with the mais church completing is 500th anniversary in 2025. A megalitic monument, outside the village, Alcalar and the Algarve international tracking race.
There is a public indoor pool and gym, soccer pitch, cultural associations, grocery stores, butchers, small market with fish from Tuesday to Saturday, Chemist (Monday to saturday), laundry, bakeries, cafés, two restaurants, train station, buses, taxis and an public health facility running from (Monday to Friday), schools, nursery schools... and a lot more to fall in love with.
All in a small scale. Mexilhoeira has a population of over 4000 people.
Mexilhoeira belongs to the City of Portimão, but lays 10 km away from Portimão downtown (approx 50.000 inhabitants) and 10km from Lagos downtown (approx. 20.000 inhabitants). Both very lively cities with lots of things to see, restaurants and nighlife, markets and large stores, as well as fantastic beaches and inumerous activities. Portimão and Lagos are both very touristic cities, but Mexilhoeira Grande, on the other hand is a very calm and relaxing village.

A small but lively little village in souther Algarve, by the coast. With Ria de Alvor south (2km), the Monchique Mountains north (25km), the city of Portimão west (10km) and the city of Lagos east (10km).
Grocery store, cafés, restaurants, barber and haidresser, church (catholic), indoor swimmimng pool, soccer pitch, children's playground and different cultural and social happenings throughout the year, all walking distance within the village centre. Great place to cycle, trekking, walking or wandering around Mexilhoeira Grande centre of the village.

Familepresentasjonstekst
There are 3 of us here at home, half the time. Pedro the father, a permanent resident, 52 years old, Pedro the son, 16 years old, and Clara the daughter, 13 years old. And we are already travelers with some combined experience.
Pedro Sr. works in an organic products store that he co-founded in 2007 and which is located in the neighboring city of Lagos, 10 km away, Pedro Jr is on the 11th grade, he has been surfing for almost 10 years, which he also combines with skateboarding. A good student and a young man with many friendships and diverse interests.
Clara, who is going attending the 7th grade, has started competing in swimming, an activity that excites her and which is currently a great and very demanding challenge (swim sessions every day except Sunday), having to balance with all other school activities. She is an excellent student, very dedicated and responsible.
We all love traveling and experiencing new adventures. We have an adventurous spirit.
When traveling we normally bring family with us, sister, nephew, brother in law, so normally there will be 5 or 6 of us traveling.
Livsstil
There is plenty to do in and around Mexilhoeira. Cycling and trekking, watersports like kite surf, stand up paddle, kayak and more available in the Ria de Alvor and coast. Great spots for fishing (we are not fishermen but occasionaly catch razor blades in Ria de Alvor).
Chill out by the church yard with a view to the sea. Going to the nearby beaches.
You can supply yourself with fish, meat, veggies and all sorts of groceries within the village and cook at home. Restaurants also available. One is Oficina a traditional food reataurant for a full meal or simply to grab bite "petiscar" as we say. The other restaurant is a nationally famous Vila Lisa, serves a set menu available daily.
There is plenty to explore in the nearby cities of Portimão and Lagos.
If you want to travel farther you will have even more points of interest to see. The west coast is a must, with amazing scenaries and beaches.
Other very interesting cities to visit in the Algarve are Faro, the region's capital (75km) and where the airport is located,Tavira (100km away), an historic village, Olhão and its islands (80 km).
You can also visit Évora (220km), a fantastic historic city in the Alentejo, and Lisbon (275km).
