Peaceful family home with stunning mountain views near the French Alps and Lake Bourget
Our spacious family home is located in Chambéry, a charming and vibrant alpine town in the French Alps, known for its beautiful historic center, relaxed lifestyle and exceptional natural surroundings. The house is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac near Sonnaz, offering the perfect balance between nature and city life. While fully located within the city and close to all amenities, it sits right at the edge of the countryside, with beautiful open views over fields, the surrounding mountains and the iconic Croix du Nivolet.
It is a rare setting where you can enjoy calm, greenery and nature while still being only minutes away from shops, restaurants, public transport and the historic center of Chambéry.
The house offers around 160 sqm of living space and is especially well suited for families with young children. The main living floor features a spacious and bright living room with a cathedral ceiling, a kitchen, a very large bedroom, and a shower room with toilet. Upstairs, an open landing overlooks the living room and leads to two additional bedrooms and a bathroom. The lower ground floor includes a large basement with a partially furnished area.
Outside, you can enjoy a large covered terrace for outdoor dining and relaxing, as well as a garden with fruit trees. The environment is very peaceful, with no overlooking neighbors and very little traffic. We also provide toys for young children and baby equipment to make family stays easy and comfortable. Parking is available inside the property and on the street.
Many everyday conveniences are accessible on foot from the house: bakery, pharmacy, supermarket, playgrounds and bus stops. The nearest bus stop is about a 10-minute walk away and provides easy access to Chambéry train station and city center. Hiking and walking trails also start directly from the house, and a large sports field at the end of our street is perfect for outdoor activities and children.

About the neighborhood
Chambéry is ideally located between lakes and mountains, making it one of the best bases for discovering the French Alps. The region offers a wonderful mix of nature, outdoor activities, charming towns and easy access to some of the most beautiful destinations in southeastern France and nearby Switzerland.
The historic center of Chambéry is only about 10–15 minutes away by bus or car and is full of charm, with colorful streets, local markets, cafés, restaurants and historical landmarks including the Château des Ducs de Savoie, the famous Elephant Fountain and beautiful pedestrian streets.
The house is perfectly positioned for outdoor activities and nature lovers. Hiking trails begin directly from the house, and the famous Croix du Nivolet — visible from the garden — is one of the area’s most iconic hikes, offering spectacular panoramic views over Chambéry, Lake Bourget and the Alps. The Bauges Regional Natural Park and the Chartreuse mountains, both around 30–45 minutes away, offer endless possibilities for hiking, cycling, mountain biking and discovering traditional alpine villages.
Lake Bourget, the largest natural lake in France, is only about 15 minutes away by car. The lake is ideal for swimming, beaches, paddleboarding, sailing, cycling and lakeside dining. The elegant spa town of Aix-les-Bains, located on the shores of the lake, is also just 15–20 minutes away and is famous for its thermal baths, marina, beaches, restaurants and lively summer atmosphere.
For mountain lovers, many ski resorts are easily accessible for day trips in winter. Family-friendly resorts such as La Féclaz and Le Revard are around 40 minutes away, while larger Alpine resorts including Les 3 Vallées, Méribel, Courchevel and Val Thorens can be reached in approximately 1h30 to 2 hours.
Lake Annecy, famous for its crystal-clear turquoise waters and picturesque old town, is about 40–45 minutes away by car and makes a perfect day trip for swimming, cycling, boat cruises and exploring charming villages around the lake.
Geneva and Lake Geneva (Lac Léman) in Switzerland are approximately 1 hour away by car. The area is perfect for discovering the international city of Geneva, lakeside promenades, museums, restaurants and beautiful Swiss landscapes.
Lyon, France’s renowned gastronomic capital and UNESCO-listed city, is also very easy to reach — around 1 hour away by train or car. It is ideal for a cultural or culinary day trip, with its historic old town, museums, shopping and famous restaurants

Curious, respectful and nature-loving family of five
We are a family of five with three young boys aged 6 years, 3 years and 2 months. Passionate about travel and intercultural experiences, we love discovering new places, cultures and ways of life around the world.
We enjoy simple things such as spending time outdoors, going for walks, observing nature and sharing quality family moments together. We also love exploring local heritage, historic towns, traditions and authentic places wherever we travel.
Claudia, the mother of the family grew up with home exchanges and experienced around twenty exchanges as a child and young adult with her parents. These experiences created wonderful memories and a love for this unique way of travelling. We are now excited to continue this tradition with our own family, as we truly believe home exchange is a beautiful and meaningful way to discover the world.
