House in Bruges (Brugge), Belgium
The house is divided into two separate parts. Our private living quarters are on the ground floor and have their own entrance. Our offices are located on the first and second floors, so the two areas are separate.
For a house in the city, we are lucky to have a relatively large garden.
The house has three bedrooms. The main bedroom has a comfortable double bed and a spacious en-suite bathroom. The other two bedrooms are smaller but still comfortable: one has twin beds, while the other has a single bed.
There is also a second bathroom with both a bath and a shower.
The kitchen is fully equipped with all the usual appliances, including a dishwasher. There is also a small utility room with a washing machine and a tumble dryer.

Bruges is a relatively small city with an exceptionally rich historical and cultural heritage.
It is located just 15 km from the North Sea and is an excellent base for exploring Belgium and the surrounding countries. The historic city of Ghent is about 50 km away, while Brussels and Antwerp are both around 100 km away. The Dutch border is only about 20 km away, and the French border is roughly 50 km away. Paris and Amsterdam are both approximately 300 km away, making them possible destinations for a longer day trip or an overnight stay.
For anyone interested in the First World War, the region around Ypres (Ieper) and Diksmuide is well worth visiting. You can explore the battlefields, military cemeteries and memorials, as well as the In Flanders Fields Museum in Ypres.
Things to do in Bruges
If you are interested in European history and culture, as I think you are, Bruges has plenty to offer. The medieval city centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with beautiful historic buildings, churches, museums and picturesque canals. It is also a wonderful city to explore on foot, with plenty of opportunities to browse the shops, enjoy a Belgian beer, sample our famous chocolates or indulge in some traditional Belgian fries.
There are also attractions for children. Boudewijn Seapark (https://www.boudewijnseapark.be/en/) is a family amusement park, while De Zeven Torentjes (https://www.visitbruges.be/en/kinderboerderij-childrens-farm-de-zeven-torentjes) is a lovely children's farm, particularly suitable for younger children.
Overall, Bruges is a charming city that combines history, culture, food and a relaxed atmosphere, while its central location makes it easy to discover much more of Belgium and the neighbouring countries.

Family from Bruges/Concarneau
My name is Nico (born 1942). I am a retired teacher (architecture) living in Bruges, Belgium.
I'm normally travelling with my partner Hélène. My house is the one in Bruges (BE170).
My son is Kenneth (born 1976). He is a researcher working for Ifremer in Concarneau France. He has a family of four (Leen, Pina (11 years) and Lowietje (9 years), and sometimes travels with us (6 persons or with 4 persons - they have the house in Concarneau, southern, Brittany, France (BE53859).
I also travel sometimes with a couple of friends.
