Even weg in de donkere dagen binnen Nederland? A light and modern family house near the North Sea coast and flower fields
Our home town has 22.000 inhabitants and is close to many beautiful locations, like the North Sea (10km), the dunes and the flower bulb area in spring. Right in between old and vivid cities Haarlem and Leiden, with the possibility to visit Amsterdam or a short drive away at Schiphol AirPort (but no airplane noise)
Our home is spacious and well equipped for families with children. We love Scandinavia and the coastline with sea and dunes and combined that in our interior. There is a well equipped kitchen with double oven and big stove, and a table for 8. We have a typical Dutch view on the cows at the other side of the street, with quite often a very beautiful sky.
We have a master bedroom, 3 children’s bedrooms and a spare bedroom with double bed. In the bathroom a shower and bath. In the garden a trampoline and outside seating. There are beds, toys, boardgames, space and bikes for many.

About the neighborhood
We live at the edge of a quiet neighbourhood built in the seventies. We have a nice park just 2 streets away, there are multiple playgrounds nearby. A grocery store is also just 300 m away. In the village, you can find a nice espressobar and chocolaterie, as well as some restaurants and various terraces. We love to go to the nearby farm shop for fresh bread and vegetables or to the apple yard Olmenhorst for a stroll and coffee with cake.
From our village you can travel by train to the city of Haarlem (10 min) or in the other direction to Leiden (13 min)
Both are old cities with a nice (shopping) centre, museums, restaurants, etc. Different zoos and activity parks, nature, historic sites, steamtrain rides, childrens playgrounds (Linnaeus Hof at 6 km), there is a lot to do within a one hour range.
You can go to the beach by bicycle (35 min) or car (paid parking, 15 min drive) to Langevelderslag. It has some bars and restaurants. We like to walk in the dunes at the edge of nearby village ‘De Zilk’ (16 min by bicycle).
There is a lot you can do in our area. Biking is especially easy in the Netherlands. When you want to see more, our village is quite central for many activities. We live in a small country with a lot of interesting destinations and ways to get there. We hope you will enjoy our house, village and country!

We had the opportunity to go camping, so in the end didnt use the offer to exchange. However our house was well taken care of, including our little cat.

We had an excellent family holiday in Winchester. The spacious home and, even more, the garden is a lovely quiet place to stay if you want to explore this part of England. However our kids didn’t like to leave the house; it was too much fun to stay and play with all the toys. The family gave us some good tips on where to swim next to all tourist information available. It was a very pleasant exchange, also for our pet Minoes, everything was taken care of very well.

We are a family with 3 daughters. We love to camp together, be creative, make something in the kitchen and spend time in and around the house. We are fond of board games, water in any form, family time and nature. Especially Scandinavia has our interest, the girls would love to see more of it since we visited Norway in 2019.
With our former house we already exchanged a few times, in 2022 we exchanged again. This created an appetite for more. The new ferry between Norway and the Netherlands opens new opportunities to travel more sustainable and feasible while visiting the countries we love most. We are not interested in southern countries, but are open for other requests for 5 days or more.
