About the neighborhood
We live near the border of the city, very near to protected nature - and the rural area “Waterland” with small authentic villages and a lot of water, the lake IJsselmeer, former Zuidersea. This area is ideal for cycling, walking, skating and all types of water sports.
You can easily reach the inner city by bike, car or public transport within 15 to 30 minutes. The historical city center with the beautiful canals, the canal houses of the Golden Age, the bridges, the trees and house boats are so unique that they are now on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. But Amsterdam has much more to offer. Many Museums with for instance Rembrandt and Van Gogh. Amsterdam is well known for its tourist- and cultural attractions.
Distances are short in the Netherlands. You can bring a lot of one day visits all around the country.

Leon y Annemieke han sido unos compañeros de intercambio excelentes. Han cuidado los detalles en su casa y de la nuestra. Nos han ayudado en todo lo necesario. Su casa estaba perfecta y la nuestra la han dejado muy bien también. Esperamos podamos tener la oportunidad algún día de podernos conocer en persona.
Excellent échange avec AnneMieke et Léon.Avons correspondu avec eux sur WhatsApp pendant tout l’échange ! Ils sont très attentifs au bien-être de ceux qui échangent avec eux. Ils ont aussi pris grand soin de notre maison en notre absence. De nombreux renseignements précis chez eux pour simplifier notre séjour .Leur maison est très confortable et située dans un endroit calme mais non loin d’un arrêt de bus pour aller à une station de métro puis en centre ville. Je recommande un échange avec eux.

Intervac home exchanges since 2000 tell how successful our exchanges have been.
We are retired and active. We cycle and walk a lot. Here in the Netherlands but also in Spain (Santiago), Greece (Kythira), Japan (Shikoku) etc. We like to cook. Every day. International. For us two, family and friends. We do visit museums, theatre and dance performances quite often. We are happy that we have all this opportunities so nearby. We are glad with our home and try to make it wellcome for our Intervac guests to make them feel quick at home. We leave a lot of specific information if we know what you shall need, Intervac home exchanges is for us also an ideal and an idealistic formula for discovering new places, nice homes, kind people and to explore the local surrounding, nature, markets etc.
Our adult sons, wives and a grand child live on their own. We see them every week.
We do travel without them.
