Large apartment in a 19th century building Berlin-Mitte and lovely summer house near Berlin
The apartment is situated in Spandauer Vorstadt, the heart of Berlin Mitte (five minutes walk to Hackescher Markt, 10 minutes to the „museum island“ and to “Unter den Linden”). It is situated on the first floor of a 19th century building with a view to a little green park and a playground. Our children have been playing there, moreover, there are great playgrounds in walking distance, as for example the huge and lovely Krausnickpark.
The apartment has a wooden floor, high ceilings and a lot of sun during the whole day. There are four bedrooms (one master bedroom and three for the children). Moreover, there is, a dining room with an adjacent small study, a drawing room with a piano, a small but well equipped kitchen, two bathrooms and a separate lavatory for guests.
You will not need a car (we do not have one), but we are happy to lend you our bicycles - it is safe and fun to cycle in Berlin.
Since 2026, we have been sharing a small summer house very close to Berlin (Biesenthal near Bernau) with a cousin. It’s situated on a beautiful, unspoiled property overlooking a river valley. Up to five people can stay there in a cozy wooden cottage from the 1930s and a beautiful studio with a view of the countryside. Our guests are also very welcome there.

About the neighborhood
The immediate vicinity is very quiet, but interesting cafés, restaurants, bars and the famous „Clärchens Ballhaus“, a large publis swimming pool are right around the corner. You will find small boutiques for shopping as well as a large selection of shops for grocery shopping.
All the famous sites - such as Unter den Linden, the Holocaus Memorial or the museum island - are in walking distance. There are three opera houses, the Philharmonic and numerous theatres either in walking distance or easily accessible by public transportation. You can visit Potsdam and other sights via public transportation or take a swim in the lakes surrounding Berlin in summertime.
The summer house is situated in a lovely landscape - go for hikes, bicycle tours or a swim in the Dewin-Lake which is in walking distance.

Super zentral und perfekt für eine Stadterkundung.
Wir wurden sehr herzlich empfangen und haben uns in der Wohnung sehr wohlgefühlt. Wir hatten Kontakt mit den Tauschpartnern und dies war eine Bereicherung.

We'd love to have you visit us!
We are a family of five—Stephan (born 1968) and Katharina (born 1969)—and enjoy living in Berlin for many years. Our children, Agnes (born 2004), Elisabeth (born 2006), and Johannes (born 2009), have already gone on many home exchanges with us, which we’ve all thoroughly enjoyed. In 2020, our two cats Billy and Tara have joined our household. Since they're both a bit provincial and don't like to travel, they'll stay in the apartment even if there's an exchange. They're very low-maintenance and very friendly housemates.
Now, after a long break on Intervac, we are looking forward to hosting guests from all over the world and visiting their homes, even though we’ll be traveling less often as a family of five and more often as a couple or in groups of three. We’re very interested in city trips, but we also enjoy spending time in the mountains or by the sea.
