A quiet house, visit Barcelona, enjoy the beach
Barcelona is an excellent place to visit. We offer you the opportunity to enjoy a quiet and relaxing stay by the beach in a spacious and comfortable house while simultaneously visiting a busy and modern city with several artistic and architectural attractions, restaurants, streets, and people.
We live in Vilassar de Mar, an old fishers’ and peasants’ village with a beach now inhabited by tourists and professional workers. The people are friendly and noiseless.
In the morning, you can visit Barcelona. It takes 25 minutes by car, but you will likely prefer taking the train, each 5 to 15 minutes. It is a comfortable 30-minute trip to the centre of Barcelona (Plaça Catalunya, Ramblas).
If you like the beach, take your swimsuit and a towel and walk for 4 minutes.
You can walk the seashore in the evening, drink at a typical beach bar, or relax in our garden.
We moved into and renewed this house in October 2015. The entrance leads to a cool terrace with flowers and a round table. The ground floor includes the kitchen with two windows, a small toilet, and the dining/sitting room: a big room with a wood stove, a 55" TV, books, and cable TV. From this, you pass to another terrace, a garden with a gas barbecue, a pergola, and tables and seats.
On the first floor are three bedrooms with 160 cm., 150 cm. and 90 cm. beds, respectively, and two bathrooms, one inside the suite.
The upper level has a study room with three desks, a small terrace, and a laundry.
In the basement, there is a bodega and a garage.
We have fibre optic 100Mb Internet access with High-Speed Wi-Fi. Every room has air conditioning equipment. The house incorporates a photovoltaic system with solar modules and solar cells.

About the neighborhood
We live in "Vilassar de Mar". It is a quiet village by the sea, 24 km to Barcelona downtown (20-30 min. car, 35 min. train to Pl. Catalunya). Our home is in a quiet street (cul de sac), 4 minutes’ walk from the sand beach.
You can buy organic vegetables directly from the farmer beside our home. Bread and other food are 150 m away, and other shops are nearby.
On the beach, you can practise swimming, boating, sailing, surfing, etc.
But if you prefer, Barcelona is a fantastic city with theatre, opera, classical
and modern music concerts, movies (several with original English or French soundtracks), sports, etc. You can enjoy Gaudí, Picasso, Dalí, and Miró, and if you prefer the latest tendencies in the Arts, you will surely enjoy this city.
The RAILWAY Station is by the beach (we have two stations): there are trains to Barcelona every 6 or 9 minutes. The trip to the centre of Barcelona takes 35 minutes. You can also take different bus lines, but the train is the best way (fast, clean, safe, and comfortable). By car, you can get to the centre of Barcelona in 20 to 30 minutes, depending on traffic jams. If you like the mountains, the Pirineos are only 180 Km. from Barcelona.
Some interesting places to visit are the heritage of Romans (Empuries),
Middle Ages (romanic churches), the old Cataros (Carcassone) fight, etc.

Michał y Magda han sido unos anfitriones excelentes. Muy amables y simpáticos, nos respondieron rápidamente a cualquier duda. La casa es moderna y tiene todas las comodidades. El jardín es grande y si tienen niños podrán disfrutar de él. Es ideal para una pareja con dos niños. Cracovia es un bonito lugar y a sus lugares de interés añadimos la interesante visita al campo de Auswitch y una escapada un par de noches a los Tatras. Todo es muy verde y un clima menos caluroso que en España. La familia cuidó nuestra casa y nuestras plantas, dejando todo en perfecto estado y limpio.
A wonderful exchange. An excellent, comfortable house with all the amenities. Two hundred meters from the beach. Vilassar de Mar is a charming, quiet, and friendly town. Plenty of pubs, bars, and restaurants. Barcelona is very easily accessible both by car and by Rodalies train. The family has excellent communication. Wonderful, friendly people. We highly recommend an exchange with this member!
Era una pareja con tres hijos, lo que siempre asusta un poco a los que ya somos mayores y tenemos toda la casa organizada. Se trató de una pequeña preocupación inútil: eran tres niños bien educados, alegres y disfrutando de libertad, pero muy respetuosos con la casa. Respecto a los padres, unas personas excelentes que fueron de gran ayuda cuando pinchamos una rueda en medio de Escocia. Respecto a la casa, se notaba el cuidado que ponen los dueños en ella. También hay que mencionar la oportunidad de utilizar una cabaña junto a un lago en una zona aislada. En resumen, un trato con las personas muy positiva, una vivienda muy buena, y un a experiencia vacacional para recordar.
Antonio y Lola son encantadores. Tienen una casa preciosa y son unos anfitriones estupendos: muy organizados, acogedores y muy detallistas. Villasar tiene mucho encanto y está muy cerca de Barcelona.

We did our first exchange in 1992 with Canada. Marina was only one year old, and Irene was four years old. From then on, we visited the US, Sweden, Denmark, Austria, France, Switzerland, Germany, and more.
Time went away. Now, our daughters Irene and Marina are running their ways. Antonio collects some white at the head, and Lola continues to be as charming as ever. Both of us have retired. But we continue collecting new friends and visiting new places. We have just moved from our old home in El Masnou to a new one 5 km away in Vilassar de Mar.
